The Pope: a distressing spectacle

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE IMAGES of the aged and infirm Pope being carted around from country-to-country, unable to walk, hold himself upright or read sermons completely, have ceased to be an inspiration and have now become a distressing spectacle.

Where are the erudite men of sound judgement and compassion, for which the Catholic Church has so long been famous?

That magnificent gentleman, for his exemplary service to the church, to Catholics worldwide and to humanity of all faiths, has earned his sainthood, his rest ...and his retirement...many times over.

Now for Heaven's sake... let it be done!
