On putting people first

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE $2b tax holiday/incentive for D&G should be considered "another bail-out" at the expense of Jamaican taxpayers moreso the "pay as you earn" group. Therefore, the question to the Minister is, when will this group get a bail-out? This is gross discrimination although the details are not available to the public.

Has D&G gone broke? A profitable entity like D&G with such an international presence cannot use its expertise to get private funding? The Government needs to think long-term. When the plant is modernised and less manpower is required that means less individual income taxes. The Government that puts people first is at it again!

I am etc.,
