GRAMMY AWARD winning diva Patti LaBelle already has the Cable and Wireless phone lines burning up at the Buzz Productions ticket outlets islandwide.
Obviously this is what Patti LaBelle is capable of, she didn't earn the name 'diva' by sitting still on her laurels. From the first time she visited stardom in the 1960s she has not looked back, her light has shone brighter and brighter.
LaBelle who is referred to as an American national treasure will perform on the same stage with Gladys Knight, the I-Three and the winners of the Diva Star Search on December 1 at the Rose Hall Great House, Montego Bay and December 2, at the Constant Spring Golf Club, Kingston.
"Jamaicans should leave their homes with one thought in mind, and it's that Patti LaBelle is coming to Jamaica to give an electrifying performance, she is a performer, she will deliver great music to the local audience," says Donnavon Williams, director of Buzz Productions Limited.
Mr. Williams may have put it lightly, as over the course of a career span of four decades that Patti LaBelle has been performing she has redefined the word immortality and at the same time given larger-than-life performances.
LaBelle has never performed as a solo act in Jamaica, however, while part of the superstar girl group, 'Patti LaBelle and the Blue Belles' she graced the Jamaican shores.
Following on the heels of a triumphant entry into the Black Entertainment Television Walk of Fame, the legendary LaBelle is scheduled to arrive in Jamaica at the end of November for what is expected to be a stellar performance on Jamaican soil.
Boasting an anthology including some of her greatest hits from the 1970s, when she was the driving force of rock's first all female band, LaBelle and throughout the 80s when she became a solo artist dominating the music scene.
Patti LaBelle's fans and newcomers to the icon, should dust off their dancing shoes, place an handkerchief in the pocket to wipe the tear ducts and wear comfortable clothing as this diva will rock the hills of Rose Hall and lawns of Constant Spring.
Songs such as 'New Attitude,' 'On My Own' 'Somebody Loves You Baby' and Voulez-Vous Couchez Avec Moi Ce Soir (the disco anthem of the 70s), have proven Patti LaBelle is a musical trailblazer. Perhaps more than any other contemporary artiste, the singular Patti LaBelle has been true to herself in every phase of her musical career. Her promise to Jamaicans is to deliver a show the populace will speak of for years to come. Buzz Productions has definitely chosen a winner again.
