Scholarship fund gets big boost

By Justin Whyte, Senior Staff Reporter

THE LATE Dr. Norman Sinclair Medical Scholarship Fund received a big boost as Courtney Foster reached her $150,000 target for 2001.

This was disclosed on Sunday night at the annual 'Kids For Charity' Fashion Show, held at the Sutton Place Hotel, Ruthven Road, Kingston. The show is a fund-raiser for scholarships for deserving medical students attending the University of the West Indies, Mona.

The main entertainment for the over three hour-long programme was a fashion show, which featured mostly Courtney's peers. The models, both male and female, showed off a variety of garments, from swimwear to elegant evening wear.

Other performances came from Sheldon Shepherd, gold medal winner in the JCDC's Festival of the Performing Arts, who brought the house down with his rendition of 'One A Dem Yute' and 'Shottas'.

Meanwhile, Racquel Sellers thrilled the audience with Whitney Houston's I Believe and Greatest Love Of All. A scintillating performance of Lean On Me was given by Claude Sinclair. Other performers on the show included the 'Potential Crew' and Lukie D.
