Paying the price for homophobia

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THANK YOU for being the only open mind on the matter of homosexuality. It is high time that this topic be discussed here as we as a country are feeling the effects of Jamaica's homophobia.

Many persons who have heard and know first hand how homosexuals are treated in Jamaica are talking to their 'straight friends' and their good US$ are going elsewhere. Your news report is quite right in stating that 'Jamaica could face economic sanctions for anti-homosexual laws'.

Many years ago, no one thought that being the most homophobic country would not hurt. Well the proof is in the pudding (US$), in which we do not share. This blame is squarely at the feet of our Prime Minister and Minister of National Security. They have both ensured that this country and its people will be starved to death so, 'Have no fear' to quote Mr. Knight.

I also wish to thank you The Gleaner for opening up to the world the truth about how Jamaica discriminates against minorities. This seeming island Paradise smells and we cannot hide it as the stench is high.

I am etc.,
