Will the AAJ get to work immediately! THE EDITOR, Sir: ON AUGUST 30, 2001, I checked through the Norman Manley International Airport after disembarking a BWIA flight at around 11:30 a.m. On entering the Immigration Hall, myself and many passengers were greeted by intense heat. It was obvious the air-conditioning was not on. Not being a foreigner, I cautiously approached the Tourist Board to inquire why passengers were subjected to such a climate. I was told to speak to Airports Authority as they are in charge of the running of the airport. I noticed that a number of electrical outlets are in the Hall and I wondered if anyone ever thought about getting fans. Being very tired, I refused to go by AAJ to ask any more questions fearing what lame excuse I would be given. If it is true that AAJ is in charge, what are they doing in regard to the upkeep of this 'international' airport? Is it the same old story that "we don't have any money" or "is the government must do it"? Wasn't in your paper some months ago that Air Jamaica owed the Authority millions of dollars? If that is not true, then can somebody please lend them some money! Announcing: will the AAJ get to work immediately! I am etc.,, KRISTINE SIMMONDS dhqcarlene@hotmail.com
