The Jamaica Boxing Board of Control will be hosting 'A Gala Banquet' to honour promoter Lucien Chen. The banquet will take place at the Le Meridien Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston on Friday, September 7, 2001. Special guest is world renowned boxing trainer Angelo Dundee.

Link Up

The highly acclaimed musical drama Link Up, a production of the Area Youth Foundation, will be playing at the Little Theatre tonight at 8 p.m. to benefit the new political party, the United People's Party. Admission $1,000 box seats or $500 for gallery seats.

Jumble Sale

The St. Patrick's Anglican Church, 153 Windward Road, Rockfort, will have its jumble sale tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. Come and get new and almost new and used items at the most reasonable prices anywhere.

Jonkanoo Lounge

The mature alternative is the new Saturday night theme at Hilton's Jonkanoo Lounge and is designed to be the ultimate in music from the 1980s. The official launch will be tomorrow at 8 p.m. Admission $500.

30th Anniversary

The St. Andrew Junior Chamber is celebrating their 30th Anniversary. It will begin with a church service and brunch. The Thanksgiving Service will be kept at the fellowship Tabernacle located at 58 Half- Way Tree Road (Old Daily News Building). The service will start at 10:30 a.m. The brunch will be hosted by Senator Winston and June Wright at 7 Cherry Drive, Kingston 8.

Short Shorts Party

Taylor Hall presents its fourth annual 'Short Shorts Party ­ Outrage' on Friday, September 14, 2001 at the Students' Union, UWI. It will be a foam party with spot prizes for the ladies in the shortest shorts. Outrage will feature the sound systems Renaissance, Code Red and Essence Discos along with Kurt Riley. Admission $300.

God Has a Sense of Humour Too

Spectra Graphics Ltd. in association with C.H.R.I.S.T. Ministries International presents a satirical comedy - 'God Has a Sense of Humour Too' - Expose Dem Lawd at the Pantry Playhouse located on Dumfries Road. Starting on Friday September 14, 2001 at 7:30 p.m.

St. Andrew Junior Chamber 30th Anniversary Celebrations

The St. Andrew Junior Chamber's 30th Anniversary continues with the Anniversary Banquet and Awards Presentation on Saturday September 15, 2001 at the Le Meridien Jamaica Pegasus, 81 Knutsford Boulevard. Cocktails will be served at 7 p.m. Guest Speaker will be The Hon. Dr. Peter Philips, Minister of Transport and Works. Admission $2,000.

Fame Road Party will be at the Fayor's Entertainment Centre, Mandeville. There will be a fashion show which will feature the bathing suit line from Frat Gear. Musical juggling will be provided by Disc Jockeys from Fame FM. Admission $400 for non-fraternity members and all fraternity members enter free.

Unity of Jamaica in Association with The Company Dance Theatre presents Benefit Dance Performance at the Little Theatre, Tom Redcam Road on Sunday

September 16, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will be in aid of Unity Preparatory School. Cocktails will be served from 4:45 p.m. up until 5:15 p.m.

Seven Stars Re-Mix takes place at the Market Place Car Park, Red Hills Road. Featuring Mr. Lex, Merciless, Roundhead, General B, Frisco Kid, Spice and Mr. Bachelous. The show will start at 9 p.m. and will end at 2 a.m.

GET IN THE GROOVE

Sunday nights will come alive with 'Get in the Groove' featuring music of the 60s, 70s and 80s at the Jonkanoo Lounge, Hilton Kingston Hotel, 77 Knutsford Boulevard. The new weekly theme party will see the juggling of music from yesteryear by Andrew Henry, there will also be prizes and surprises including special guest acts and giveaways. Starts at 7 p.m. until you say when. Admission $300.

A special compilation of the entire catalogue of Peter Tosh's recordings, comprising a total of 12 albums, will be launched at a ceremony to be held on the grounds of Sonic Sounds Manufacturing Company.
