Boyz face St. Kitts

JAMAICA'S Reggae Boyz will face the host country in the St. Kitts Football Festival today.

In their opening match on Friday the Reggae Boyz who are building up towards an important qualifier against Mexico on September 2 at the National Stadium were held to a 0-0 draw by Martinique.

In Friday's game Omar Daley, a member of the Jamaica Under-20 team at the 2001 FIFA Youth World Cup in Argentina last month, displayed good pace and passing accuracy in midfield, while flank defenders and Sean Fraser, on his senior team debut, and Robert Scarlett, both looked comfortable at the senior level.

"In the second half, we dominated and it was good to see the (young) players showing so much authority," coach Clovis De Oliveira said after the game.

Jamaica's best chance came mid-way the second half, when young forward Kirk Wright hesitated on the six-yard box, failing to knock in a fine cross from Kevin Deer.

"Generally we played well, we got scoring chances but just failed to score," Jamaica captain Linval Dixon said.
