Kgn photographers ready for 'Ochie'

THE DAYS are counting down and the excitement to expose Ocho Rios is building.

More than half of the 35 photographers expected to converge on Ocho Rios, St. Ann, in The Gleaner/Photo Express photo exposé met at the offices of The Gleaner in a buzz of excitement yesterday, to discuss plans to expose the resort town on film on Saturday July 28.

After meeting with Garfield Grandison, The Gleaner's Editor-in-Chief, and Managing Editor, Jenni Campbell, the mood was one of sheer enthusiasm. "It's one of the most exciting things I've ever heard about, I don't know why you never called it 'Photo Adventure'," said Winston Rowe, an amateur photographer.

"I feel excited. It's the first time I'm doing anything like this," said Peter Graham, a professional photographer.

The photographers, who have varying degrees of experience, will be roving around Ocho Rios from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, capturing the most exotic and mundane twists and turns of life in the resort town.

From the event, a master photo supplement will be produced and circulated through the Gleaner Company's national network on August 23. According to the Gleaner's Editor-in-Chief, "We are going to have saturation delivery of the journal in Ocho Rios. Every house and every business place in the town will get a copy."
