THE NATIONAL Housing Trust has budgeted six billion dollars for housing solutions during the financial year April 2001 to March 2002.
As part of its housing programme, the Trust expects to be involved in the financing of over 11,400 housing solutions in developments across Jamaica.
Of the 4,561 NHT financed scheme benefits that the Trust expects to be completed by the end of this financial year, 3,088 will be marketed directly by the NHT to its contributors.
Although the NHT is involved in the financing of most housing developments in Jamaica, the Trust does not always market all the housing solutions that it finances. Many developers for whom the Trust provides financing often opt to market the schemes themselves.
While the NHT does not expect more than the projected 4,561 scheme solutions to be completed at the end of 2001/02 financial year, work on NHT financed schemes will continue on at least one housing scheme in every parish except Manchester and Hanover.
St. Catherine accounts for the highest number of housing developments with a total of eight: Angels II, Angels III, Bushy Park-Ewarton, Hellshire, Rosemount-Linstead, Kitson Town, Twickenham Park and Bernard Lodge.
In Clarendon, work is being done on the Mineral Heights and Longville II housing schemes, while work is set to begin on the Moneymusk and New Yarmouth housing developments before year-end.
In the western parishes, Appleton and Alligator Pond in St. Elizabeth and Frome and Water Works in Westmoreland are being planned. Also being planned are Anchovy and Green Pond II in St. James while Norwood, in the same parish, is under construction.
St. Ann and Trelawny will have six NHT financed housing developments between them with Long Pond, Florence Hall and Duncans Hills in Trelawny and Ridge Estate and Mansfield II and III in St. Ann.
