In praise of black tank programme

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE MAIN problem in rural Jamaica where I live is the lack of a reliable source of water.

For years people of my district have been complaining.

The Ministry of Water has a project where black tanks can be acquired on cash or credit. I find it very good due to my experience with the existing programme in my community I would encourage people in other communities who are suffering similar problems to avail themselves of this laudable programme.

We can ameliorate our conditions by making use of what is available. Inertia and chatter is not the answer, to do something is what is required, if we want solution.

I want to express my respect and gratitude on behalf of the many residents who benefited and responded with thankfulness and honesty in my village; the praise can't be too much for those who made this programme possible. I would like to acknowledge the contributions of two persons, the Field Marshal Mr. Bobsie Evans for his professionalism and probity and Miss McKenzie for her politeness. Your contributions did not go unnoticed and for those whom I did not mention by name it is not a matter of insignificance but space.

I wish for the Rapid Response Units and the black tank programme enduring success and expansion.

I am, etc.,

KEITH PEYNADO
