Skerritt
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CANA:
RICKY SKERRITT may not be the West Indies manager for their brief tour of African nations Zimbabwe and Kenya, starting next month, a newspaper has reported.
The Barbados Advocate reported yesterday that Mr. Skerritt was asked to resign by Gregory Shilling-ford, chief executive of the West Indies Cricket Board, after more than 13 hours of talks over three successive days this week in Antigua.
Mr. Skerritt has been embroiled in a dispute with former team psychologist, Joe Hoad. Mr. Skerritt said Mr. Hoad's contract had ended, while Mr. Hoad insisted he had resigned.
Joel Garner, the former Barbados captain and West Indies fast bowler, now a member of the selection panel, is tipped to replace Mr. Skerritt for the African tour that embraces two Tests against Zimbabwe and a triangular limited-overs series involving the hosts and India, according to the newspaper.
They then move to Kenya for a series of matches, but that itinerary has not been published.
