Mexico and the map

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN RELEGATING Mexico to Central America, Ms. Ritch makes the common error of confusing "North America" with the United States of America.

Along with Canada, Mexico is in fact assigned by geographers to North America, not Central America, which therefore also allows policy-makers to include Mexico in the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) group.
