AFTER THREE matches at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium last night, four players had caught the eye of Dennis Van Wijk, technical director of Second Division Belgian club, Cercle Brugge, and freelance scout Christopher Feltham.

Among the players who impressed the foreign scouts were a midfielder from Arnett Gardens, another midfielder from Tivoli Gardens as well as a forward and a young midfielder from Hazard in an evening which did not demonstrate the best quality of football.

Former National Premier League standard bearers Harbour View had not taken the field when The Gleaner left and it was expected a number of their players would also catch the eyes of the scouts.

The players were taking part in the Bunny McLean Challenge Trophy competition which was put on to showcase local talent - mainly from Kingston and St. Andrew.

Included in the competition are the top four National Premier League teams Arnett Gardens, Waterhouse, Tivoli Gardens and Harbour View, as well as invited teams Hazard and Duhaney Park.

Six 45-minute matches were scheduled to be played last night with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals which will be played tomorrow at the same venue.

Today, the scouts and former technical director Winston Chung-Fah, who in association with the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) put on the tournament, will journey to Portland to watch the country's Under-20 team take on a Portland Invitational side.
