JAMAICANS ARE expected to participate in several voluntary work projects across the island today as part of Labour Day activities.
There will be no National Project this year. Instead, each parish has been mandated to organise a Parish Project. This is in keeping with the planned local government reform programme and will give the respective communities greater control over the projects and promote and revive community spirit in the participants.
The focus for the next three years will be on early childhood education with consideration being given to the Basic Schools. Several Basic Schools across the island have been selected for the repairing and upgrading of facilities.
