Extremely grateful

THE EDITOR, Sir:

On Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at approximately 9:00 p.m. our 17-year-old daughter was driving along Shortwood Road, taking a friend home after a class, when the car came to a sudden stop.

This happened during one of Jamaica Public Service Company Limited's three-hour power cuts and Cable & Wireless prepaid cellular service not working (as we had tried to get her when she did not arrive home by a certain time).

At about 10:00 p.m. two police vehicles were passing, noted her predicament and offered to assist her and towed the car home.

We are extremely grateful to Detective Corporal Lloyd Marshall and Corporal Aston Clarke of the Constant Spring Police Station for being "good policemen" in this crime-infested country. We thank you for taking our daughter safely home. Many, many thanks.

We are, etc.,
