WHAT do Baby G, Christopher James, John John and Jam II have in common?
Most persons in the dancehall music industry should know, but for those persons who don't, they are producers, brothers and the sons of veteran producer King Jammys.
The youngsters are multi-talented. Baby G, (Trevor James) is also a deejay; John-John, (Lloyd James Jnr) plays the drum, drum machine and bass guitar; Jam II (Jammy James) also plays the drum machine.
They all say they were born with music in their blood. "Music is my life. I was born with the ability to produce music. When I was younger and growing up I used to go to the studio with Bunny Lee who, along with my father, taught me how to produce. He is like my second father," said the 27 year old John-John who has been producing for the past 12 years.
Baby G, the youngest of the boys, has been producing for two years.
"We all used to hang around the studio as children so we basically grew up in the music," said Baby G.
"I have been producing for two years now, otherwise it was from I was baby," he said.
Several of the hit rhythms and songs that are currently running the dancehall belong to the Jammy's boys.
Jam II is the person responsible for building the popular 'Ticks' rhythm which features Beenie Man's hit song Straight Prison and Sizzla's To De Point while Christopher James is the producer behind that project. Baby G does deejaying work along with Wayne Marshall for the song Bling Bling. John-John has Bounty Killer's classics Lodge and Gal to his credit.
Several people in entertainment circles are now singing their praises.
Deejay Hawkeye told THE STAR he feels the family of musicians has a great future and he would like to continue working with them.
"Them put out some good productions, and them father is a good producer so it seem like it run in the blood. So far they have done a commendable job," he said.
The brothers say they spend so much time around music that they have little energy left to pump into any hobbies.
"Well music is my life. Outside of music I don't have much spare time," said John-John.
Jam II, on the other hand, says while he doesn't have much spare time there are times that he hangs-out with his friends and deejays.
"When I'm not producing, I hang out with Ward 21, my friends and Elephant Man. I don't have a lot of spare time because of the music though."
