Three students arrested

THREE STUDENTS were arrested by the police yesterday following fights and stabbing incidents at the Papine High School in Kingston and the Cedric Titus Comprehensive High School in Trelawny.

Two students from the Papine High School were jointly charged with assault occasioning bodily harm following an attack on another student earlier in the day. The two males, aged 14 and 16 are alleged to have used a machete and a bottle to wound a 15-year-old schoolmate, after he refused to comply with their demands for money. The incident occurred on the school compound around 12:30 in the afternoon.

Reports from the Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) indicate that the Principal of the school was forced to lock the injured student inside an office to shield him from his attackers.

He reportedly suffered a wound near the left eye, along with other bruises and swelling.

The attackers, who fled the compound shortly after the incident, were apprehended by police in the Hope Gardens area. They have been released on bail, and are scheduled to appear in the Juvenile Court on April 6.

Meanwhile a 16-year-old school girl from the Cedric Titus Comprehensive in Trelawny was arrested and charged with wounding with intent after she allegedly stabbed a fellow student in a fight on the school compound yesterday.

The two students reportedly got into a fight at about 11:30 yesterday morning and during the tussle one of the juveniles pulled a knife from her skirt and stabbed the other in her neck.

The injured student was taken to Falmouth hospital where she was admitted. The student who did the stabbing was taken into custody by the Falmouth Police.
