Socin' Wet full of vibes

SOCIN' WET fete held last Sunday at the Caymanas Golf Club, St. Catherine, was six hours of infectious, pulsating, writhing, sweaty soca.

The event was organised by 'Bacchanal 2001'.

It featured appearances by Tricia Lee and Iwer George from Trinidad. Their performances were well received by the soca-crazed revellers.

DJ Kurt Riley, along with Sparkles Disco, transformed the golf club, with its well-manicured lawns, into a veritable bacchanal village. Some hot revellers cooled off in the club's swimming pool.

About 200 skimpily-clad socaphiles jumped, waved, and sang lustily along with the hits, defying the hot afternoon sun.

Among the popular tunes were Stranger by Shadow, Te Lay Lay by Xtatic, Bunji Garlin's Fete Fete and a 'socarised' version of TOK's Chi Chi Man.

Tricia Lee's presentation of Kim and Carnival Baby found favour with the audience. However, the man of the fete was Iwer George. He shouted and oscillated as he went through several tracks, from his latest album, Iwer And Family.

He also invited revellers on stage to perform one of this year's most popular carnival songs 'Let Me See Yuh Hand' and gave away some of his CDs.
