OUTRAGEOUS AMERICAN talk show host Jerry Springer, is to tape two segments of his Jerry Springer Show at SuperClubs Hedonism II, in Negril, between April 13 to 21.
The Jerry Springer Show, which premiered in 1991, is now the number one syndicated day-time series in the United States.
It is the first talk show to upstage 'Oprah', hosted by Oprah Winfrey in a decade. The producers of the Jerry Springer Show will be taking 25 guests to the island for the taping.
Hedonism II's general manager, Joseph Smith, is overjoyed by the exposure this show is going to give the resort.
"No hotel in Jamaica could pay for this kind of publicity and we are making every effort to ensure Jerry includes us on his annual roster", Mr. Smith told The Gleaner.
Springer, who was in Jamaica in 1998 for Spring Break with MTV, spent a lot of time at Hedonism II although he was staying at the neighbouring Grand Lido Negril.
The London-born Springer, whose family fled the Holocaust in Germany to England, migrated to the United States at five years old.
A lawyer by profession, he also became one of the youngest Mayors in the United States. He launched his career in broadcasting as a political commentator on Cincinnati's WLWT-TV. He became the station's managing editor in 1984.
A spin-off of Springer's show is the hot-selling video nationally and internationally titled Too Hot For TV.
Hedonism II, recently voted one of the top 10 party spots in the world by the Discovery Network Travel Channel, has hosted in the past the Playboy Channel, HBO TV, E-TV and Yorkshire TV.
