THE CORNWALL College versus Glenmuir High School match might well be rated the best match yet in the 2001 TVJ Schools Challenge Quiz competition, but the losers were not pleased.
Cornwall College left the TVJ headquarters on South Odeon Avenue in Kingston crying foul after Glenmuir High School's two-point victory over them on Thursday night.
Glenmuir High, which went into the match as the favourite, won the match that went into sudden death after both schools were tied at 33 points at the end of regulation time. The final score was 35-33.
Ian Molyneaux, captain of the Cornwall College team, told THE STAR that he would be petitioning the Schools Challenge Quiz board for a re-match.
"We are not taking it like this. We know that we were not the favourite but we should be treated equal," he said.
"If they don't do something about it Cornwall will not enter next year. I will not put them through what we went through in there," the irate captain said.
Glenmuir's captain Howard MeCalla said his team was also cheated in the match. "I can't comment on them being cheated but we were cheated also of points," the jubilant captain said.
Glenmuir's team was: Howard McCall, captain; Carlington Burrell; Tristan Thompson; and Davion Morrison.
Cornwall College was: Ian Molyneaux, captain; Adley Duncan; Romain McDonald; and Juma Stewart.
