Meadowbrook pips St Mary High

WELL DONE: Andre Moulton, Tricia Smith, Phillip Clarke, and Shermaine Stone. - Dennis Coke

By Ingrid Brown, Staff Reporter

MEADOWBROOK High School made a strong comeback in the buzzer section to beat St. Mary High 29-18 in TVJ's Schools Challenge Quiz 2001 on Tuesday night.

The match began with both teams answering incorrectly to most of the questions posed and at the end Meadowbrook led 7 to 4.

The second segment was no better. At the end of the first minute neither school managed to get a right answer to any of the questions posed.

By the time the third and final minute ended the teams had barely managed to move their scores to Meadowbrook 11 and St. Mary 10.

However, the teams showed signs of life during the buzzer section. Meadowbrook answered most of the questions they attempted correctly and by virtue ran away with the match.

"We knew we would win because we were very confident. Not that we are underestimating anybody but we just knew we would win," said Tricia Smith, captain of the team.

The team members said they studied and prayed a lot and that they are confident of victory when they play their next match.

The competition continues tonight with St. Jago High facing off with Wolmers Boys.
