Tangible aspirations

Shaykh Sadique Muncey

TANGIBLE ASPIRATIONS of life is effected through positive and meaningful reflection which has always proved itself as a measure of man's success. In overviewing the past year we've seen a continuance of corruption and immorality in all levels of society, resulting in the loss of self esteem and the focus on life as a whole. Persistent reflection on the latter will always serve as a catalyst for the purpose of our existence. Allah (god), the Most High has stated in regard to this, "I've not created the Jinn and mankind excepting they worship me". (Qura'an 51vs56). So the essence of life is to worship Him on a daily basis. This is a requirement of each person so as to realise ultimate success. The word worship however should not be restricted to praying alone, but is general to every action an individual performs, once they are done in accordance with the laws He has designated for man to govern himself and society by. So whether it be a husband-wife, parent-child, employer-employee, leader-follower relationship, every individual has to act in his or her capacity to fulfil the rights of each other. For Allah in His infinite wisdom has elaborated on these relationships in his Divine Revelations as exemplified through his prophets. In effecting this all inclusive definition of worship, citizens will understand that if they are in position of authority they do not abuse it by seeking to enact laws contrary to those of God Almighty. By adopting such understandings we would have gained His pleasure and consequently the society flourishes under His decree. So as of today let us be resolute in focusing on the purpose behind our existence in order to promote sound values among ourselves.

Shaykh Sadique Muncey of the Islamic Council.
