No green light for 'Francis' KO

WESTERN BUREAU:

A MEETING which lasted more than two hours yesterday failed to bring the Pepsi/Sports Plus Ben Francis Knockout impasse to an end.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA), failed to resolve the protest by Cornwall College that Clarendon College had used an ineligible player in their Ben Francis KO semi-final 4-1 win at Woodside last Wednesday.

Executive officer for ISSA, Neville Mair, said late yesterday afternoon that "The matter is still under investigation and a press release will be issued (today)."

Mair said the Ben Francis KO final was still on hold but refused to go into any other details.

Yesterday's meeting was called to investigate allegations that Clarendon College had used Sean Fraser in the game against Cornwall even though he had accumulated three yellow cards and under Rule 6 of the competition should have missed that game.
