The Portmore Kids Praise performing at the Faith Deliverance Ministries International's 'Evening of Elegance', held at Seymour Avenue, Kingston. - Michael SloleyUNDER THE blanket of a starry sky women in beautiful gowns and men dressed in tuxedo dined on the lawns of Vivian and Patricia Daley's home on Seymour Avenue, Kingston.
The gentle night wind carried a pleasant vanilla aroma from the scented candles which were at the centre of each table. Palm trees lined the walkway with white pepper lights hugging their trunks, while the twinkling red and blue lights in surrounding branches hinted that David Orgill had Christmas on his mind when he did the decor.
The setting created the mood for the Faith Deliverance Ministries International's 'Evening of Elegance' over the weekend.
The church is two years old, Janice Foreman told The Gleaner and the Daleys were hosting the celebratory event for the second year.
Master of ceremonies, Heather Foreman, kept guests entertained with her vivacious personality. She encouraged a touching display of love between couples by having men march up to the stage and profess their feelings for their wives.
Items by the Portmore Praise and the Kids Praise dance groups added a refreshing touch to the entertainment package. Mem-bers of the Portmore Praise dancers wore beautiful white dresses, with white top hats and matching gloves to present the song My Soul Desire. Kids Praise wore lavender and white outfits. Cabaret Dawn Bing thrilled guests with her soulful crooning of Elvis Presley's Fools Rush In.
Present for this fundraising event were Gertrude McKenzie, Andrea McKenzie, Mercedes Garrick, Pastor Silburn Kerr, Morais Kerpens-Lee and Christopher McDonald.
