Demus family to honour Nicodemus

THE late deejay Nicodemus, famous for songs such as Bone-Man Connection and Suzy Wong will be remembered with show to be held on his birthday.

Dub Traffickers and the Demus family - which numbers at least ten deejays with the monicker 'Demus' - will have a show to commemorate his contribution to the music business.

The show will coincide with the late deejay's birthday on December 10.

Nicodemus died approximately four years ago after a performance in New York.

The particular 'Demus' behind the staging of the event is deejay Whipa Demus who feels that the musical talent of Nicodemus should not go un-noticed.

"I want to honour Nicodemus as a musical teacher and one of the best rhythm riders. Any other rhythm rider comes after Nicodemus," he added.

The other Demus family members include Chakademus, Junior Demus, Notchelous Demus, Baby Demus, Mikey Demus, Jungle Demus, Coolie Demus and Freaky Demus.

Rass Rod, chief executive officer of Dub Traffickers said the idea for the show materialised during a conversation with Whipa Demus. "He (Whipa) was mentioning the great contribution of Nicodemus who seems to have gone ahead un-noticed. He (Whipa) started to call the number of deejays with the Demus musical name and how it would be good to have a show with all the Demus' coming together."

Rass Rod said he endorsed the idea of this event because he had enjoyed the lyrics of Nicodemus who inspired several deejays over the years.

"We have decided to make our (Dub Traffickers) venue and our sound system available for this show."

The proceeds of the show will go towards the production of a CD compilation with tracks of all the Demus musical family, Rass Rod added.
