Devon House and noise

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THE WORST type of violence may not be physical. To those of us here who still have normal functioning minds (probably about 25 per cent of this population), one of the worst things that can happen to us is for our mind space to be violated by vicious and insane mouthings and loud, pounding sounds which now pass for 'music'.

I personally, and my family with children, suffer regularly every weekend from the noise from Devon House, that comes not only from the house entertainment (Saturday night two weekends ago ended at 4 a.m. when we all eventually fell into an exhausted sleep after four calls to the police to no avail) but most disturbingly, from car sound systems that pass through the parking lot, blasting our tired minds to hell, and often park and stay to plague and torment us who are only trying to get a little peace and rest. The police are useless, and who are the security guards at Devon House? What do they do?

I am, etc.,
