To John, with love


John Jones

A NUMBER of theatrical productions in the Corporate Area over the next three weeks will be dedicated to the late actor and singer John Jones who died of a heart attack on Monday, October 23.

A committee comprising playwrights/producers Basil Dawkins and Louis Marriott; actor Teddy Price; filmmaker/vidoegrapher Lennie Little-White, Fab 5's manager Frankie Campbell, show producer Buddy Pouyat and writer/producer Alvin Campbell have been co-ordinating the events that will take place in four venues.

Included in the series of events will be:

The opening performance of Louis Marriott's production of Playboy at the Pantry Playhouse on Friday, November 3, at 8:00 p.m. featuring Dayne McDonald, Denise Hunt, Karen Harriott, Erica Brown and Louis Marriott;

The four performances of Father HoLung and Friends' 'Jesus 2000' at the National Arena on Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5 at which Jones was scheduled to perform;

The performance of Basil Dawkins' What The Hell Is Happening To Us, Dear? at the Little Little Theatre on Sunday, November 12 at 5:00 p.m., with Grace McGhie, Volier Johnson, Winston Bell, Terri Salmon and Angela Jarrett.

A variety concert at the Little Theatre on a date to be confirmed, featuring Fab 5, the Unique Vision, Peter Ashbourne, Karen Smith, Ossie D and Stevie G, Jon Williams, Cecil Cooper, John McFarlane, Beverley Dexter, the Cathi Levy Players, members of the cast of Royal Palm Estate, Easton Lee, Leonie Forbes, Charles Hyatt, Louis Marriott, Myrna Hague, and Judy Mowatt. Fae Ellington will be MC.

Tickets to the events dedicated to John Jones are available at the respective venues and at 11 Springvale Avenue, Kingston 10.
