A job well done

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I WRITE to you for two reasons, namely to offer a heartfelt thank you to the West Indies Home Contractors Limited (WIHCON) for a splendid job done on the restructuring of Hope Road and to the Government of Jamaica for recognising the fact that there are local companies capable of such a task.

It truly is heartening to know that we still have professionals who have the level of consciousness as displayed by this company in the areas of cost and time management complemented by courtesy and decency. Not once in the three or four times that I have had to traverse the road daily did I hear the slightest utterance of foul language nor did I see a sulky face. Keep it up! My only concerns though are listed below:

1. Please revert Hilcrest Avenue back to a one-way. My reason for this is that cognisant of the fact that there are two schools on that road, traffic is severely hampered by the stopping along the sides for parking to disembark children attending the schools. With the one-way one lane was always free for the flow of traffic.

2. The no right turn at Kingsway Avenue. What this does is to create a long line of traffic extending from the stop lights at Trafalgar Road right back up to the lights at Lady Musgrave Road intersection. By being able to turn at Kingsway it alleviated a lot of the pressure and congestion from the Trafalgar/ Waterloo Roads area.

3. During the rain the white lines are barely visible when covered by the slightest amount of water on the newly reconstructed Hope Road. These need to be brightened or a different texture road paint used.

Again I say a big thank you, WIHCON!!

I am, etc.,

NORMA CHIN
