Big boost for Boyz

Deputy chairman of Crazy Jim, Bev Stewart, presenting a $100,000 cheque to Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Horace Burrell on Thursday. The money is an advance payment on the company's $4m sponsorship of the Reggae Boyz.

JAMAICA'S football programme got a big boost on Thursday when Crazy Jim Limited announced an estimated $4m sponsorship of the Reggae Boyz.

Crazy Jim's assistant vice president of Sales and Marketing, Phillip Williams, in announcing the sponsorship deal on Thursday at their McArthur Avenue office, said $1 from every product sold by the company until 2002 will go to support the national football programme. He estimated that, depending on the public's support, no less than $4m will be contributed through the company.

Deputy chairman of the Crazy Jim, Bev Stewart, said her company was happy to help the football programme as in the midst of uncertainty in the country it was important that some of the positives be highlighted.

Members of the Reggae Boyz squad, including technical director Clovis de Oliveira and assistant coach Peter Cargill attended the press briefing.
