YVONNE BROWN, widow of reggae superstar, Dennis Brown, has told The Gleaner that the Dennis Brown Foundation is yet to get off the ground in a meaningful financial way.
Despite a full house concert held at the Countryside Club on July 1 to raise money for the foundation she said "things were still scrappy."
"We held the event and a lot of people turned out. We are really thankful for that, but because my son Daniel used his money to stage the event, we are still not in a good position as far as the foundation is concerned.
"But we are certainly looking forward to raising additional funds so that Dennis Brown's name and musical legacy will live on. As the years go by we will gain and we will understand that this is not a one shot thing", she said.
Mrs. Brown also told The Gleaner she expected Dennis Brown's estate will be settled by the Administrator General in the next three months.
"They have been working at it and it looks likely to be resolved within that period," she said.
At the time of his death on July 1 last year, Dennis Brown's children were numbered at around 12. But Mrs. Brown said she knew of eight or nine, five of whom she mothered.
"All of Dennis' children will be taken care of. He would not have wanted it any other way and whatever there will be to be disbursed they will all get their share," she said.
The diminutive woman of Jamaican-Chinese descent said she has no immediate plans to remarry. "It has all been so mysterious since Dennis died and we are still trying to cope with that, so marriage is not on the cards right now," she told The Gleaner.
Mrs. Brown said she plans to come to Jamaica to live in the future.
