Italian reggae band for music festival

Claude Wilson, Freelance Writer

Western Bureau:

TWO YEARS ago the organisers of Reggae Sumfest contracted the hardcore French reggae band, Kreyol Syndicate, to perform at reggae's biggest music event.

This year Summerfest Produc-tion is looking to sign the Reggae National Tickets (RN Tickets) of Italy, considered among the top 15 reggae bands in southern Europe.

RN Tickets had its genesis in August, 1993, under the influence of other Italian reggae bands such as 99 Posse, African Unite, Pitura Freska, in addition to Bob Marley and Steel Pulse.

Their first demotape Metro-poli Selvaggia, released in 1994, won the best demo release in 1994/1995.

The long-awaited second album, Lascia Un Po Di Ti', came out in 1998. Featured on this album is Bunny Selassie, a Jamaican singer, whose collaboration has produced Feel The Vibes and the beautiful and good lovers rock singer Dawna Lee from the UK, with RN Tickets playing for the first time as a backing band.

The group recorded La Isla at the Gee Jam recording studios, in Port Antonio, with the likes of Aston Family man Barrett (Wailers bassists), Manuel Stain, Quizz, Lisa Dainja, Bunny Selassie and Bobo. There was an accompanying music video that was shot on location in Port Antonio. It was released in May this year.
