Mr/Mrs Gloria and David Leslie ( left and 2nd left) show surprise at the large numbers of supporters as they arrive for a fund-raising function, at Tottenham Town Hall, North London. Mrs Daphne Muirhead, (right) and Paulette Simpson, (standing behind) her were also pleased.
THE ANNUAL summer presentation by Gloria and David Leslie to raise funds to purchase hospital equipment and medical supplies for The Noel Holmes Hospital, Lucea, Hanover attracted such a heavy attendance to Tottenham Town Hall in North London that the presenters have to consider whether to obtain a larger venue for future promotions. Yet the hundreds of supporters present testified that the suitability of the town hall has been an integral part of the success - together with Mr/Mrs Leslie's excellent Jamaican cuisine and confirmation that the proceeds are used for the purpose advertised.
Mrs. Daphne Muirhead, wife of H.E. Mr. David Muirhead, the Jamaican High Commissioner in the United Kingdom, Mrs. Delores Cooper from the High Commission and Ms Paulette Simpson were the chief guests. They showed slides depicting the complete process from the purchase of equipment to its set-up and use in Jamaica. These promotions have become so popular that a second annual show has been established for the autumn - to be held this year on 30th Sept-ember, and at Tottenham Town Hall again.
