Tell me pastor - 18-y-o worried about pregnancy
I am 18 years old. I had a boyfriend and I loved him very much. I got involved with another man and he got me pregnant. I had to break up with my first boyfriend because I knew it was the best thing to do.
The man I got pregnant for lives with his baby mother, and even though he knows I am pregnant he will not be able to support the child and let people know that the child is his. If his baby mother should find out about this, all hell would break loose. I am going to need support for his child, and I want it done in a peaceful way. So I need your fatherly advice on what to do.
K.S. St. Catherine
Dear K.S., You made a big mistake by getting involved with another man. You knew that he was living with his baby mother so you should not have brought this problem upon yourself. On the other hand, the man is just as irresponsible. He didn't care so he got you pregnant. Now may I ask this question. Who are you protecting? You are not protecting the child that you are carrying. Evidently you are protecting the man who impregnated you. That is a most silly thing to do. You will need support for your child; therefore, you ought not to behave as if he is not the father because you are afraid that the woman with whom he is living will become angry. He will have to talk to his woman at home. The best thing for him to do is to tell her the truth. I hope he will not behave as if he is not the father. I hope that you will not have to take him to court. You don't have to be in a war with him or his baby mother. You are young. You need someone to help you. Don't be afraid to tell your mother everything. She will not kill you. You have made a mistake, but if you are ambitious you can still work towards a profession. So go back to school as soon as you are able. Pastor
