Public kissing

THE EDITOR, Madam:

IN JAMAICA whenever a woman hits the mark of some sort of achievement, talent, sports, beauty contest and otherwise she is generally kissed on her cheek by the chairman in charge of the proceeding function.

Now, instead of kissing the woman on her cheek how about the idea of kissing the woman on the back of her palm? This style of salutation (for the woman) would describe a much higher sense of "modesty and respect", instead of seeing the man grazing his lips on the cheeks of the woman. Of course (some Jamaican men) seem to derive much romantic joy kissing women publicly on their cheeks.
