Residents urged to represent communties
SPANISH TOWN: MEMBER OF Parliament for Southeast St. Catherine, Fitz Jackson, has implored the Greater Portmore Citizens Association to get more residents to participate in representing their communities.
Mr. Jackson, who was speaking at the monthly meeting of the Association recently, said there should be more residents attending the meetings. He said the representation was very poor for such a large community. "I think the challenge is to get more people to participate in the representation of the communities," he said. "We need to convince others to be more participative," he added.
Mr. Jackson also pointed out that lack of interest by the residents indicated the absence of civic pride. "I beg of you to re-double your efforts to get more people to participate," he said.
