Man-of-series Hinds looking ahead

ST JOHN'S, CANA: WEST Indies' new batting hero Wavell Hinds is delighted to win the man-of-the-series award and help the Caribbean side defeat Pakistan 1-0 in the three-match Cable and Wireless Test.

"It's a great feeling knowing you are the man-of-the-series. After all the hard work put in since the training camp and before, you can see the returns for the hard work," Hinds said after the West Indies pulled off a tense one-wicket in the third Test yesterday.

Hinds said "doing the best things, sticking to the basics and trying to do them more often than not" was responsible for his success.

Hinds, who amassed the highest aggregate of 340 runs in the series at an average of 68, said he's looking forward to the England tour which starts in a few days.

"It is a challenge of life and that's what it is all about. Cricket is a game for big men. It is a tough challenge and I am up for it," Hinds said.

"I've never played first-class cricket in England so I don't know what it is like but from what I've seen, it is pretty tough and am I up for the challenge," added Hinds.

The most memorable moment for the 23-year-old left-hander, came in the drawn Barbados second Test when he drove and pulled the Pakistani pace and spin bowlers with disdain to all parts of the field enroute to a career-best maiden Test century of 165.
