Port cricket team displaying winning form

THE KINGSTON Portworkers are again in the running this year for the Campari Cup Cricket championship 2000.

On Sunday, April 30 Kingston Portworkers Cricket Team defeated United Protection by nine wickets when they faced off in the fourth round of the Campari Competition. United Protection ended up with a score of 127 thanks to the performances of Rohan Wallace ­ 43, Gerald Gray 39 not out; Louie Prasaud five for 41; Andrew Thompson two for 16, and Paul McDermott two for 18.

Kingston Portworkers scored 128 for 1, assisted by the impressive batting of Lloyd Hines who made 64 and the able Clive Pink 33 not out. Kingston Portworkers kept the pressure on United Protection throughout the match. The event was watched by a fair-sized crowd at the Police Officers' Club

Their previous match on the grounds of Jamaica College on April 16, yielded a draw against Eastern Tourers. That score was Eastern Tourers 196 and Kingston Portworkers 167 for 7.

The Portworkers team is prepared to work hard and expects outstanding results throughout this season.
