Carnival ships transferred to Bahamas flag

EIGHT CARNIVAL Cruise Line ships have been transferred to the Bahamas Registry and more could be on the way. A spokesman from the Miami-based cruise company said the ships have changed flag during the last two months.

Carnival has indicated that it will transfer all fourteen of its Liberian and Panamanian-flagged ships to the Bahamas this year because of the latter flag's "solid reputation." China's national carrier, Cosco, has also warned that it might transfer 132 of its ships from Panamanian flag because of a disagreement over issuing crew navigation certificates. A source in Panama said Cosco is seeking its own crew registering office in China.
