Creeping optimism
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I WANT to write a letter of hope, because for so long in Jamaica we have had very little. In recent days optimism has cautiously crept its way back into Jamaica's economy, and I believe that this optimism is justified. Companies that restructured are starting to see benefits, and those that failed have since been replaced.
The adjustment period has been brutal; often unfair, but every Jamaican will benefit from a vibrant economic platform. Another source of optimism lies with our political leaders who have finally prioritised economic growth on their agendas. There are now a few good hardworking politicians that are strategically placed, and I believe that some day...someone with the vision, determination and integrity, will ignite and move Jamaica forward; faster than our dreams can permit.
Yesterday I attended a forum on tourism, and heard our new Minister speak for the first time. I now believe that this person could be closer to us than we think.
