Dominican Republic to host trade exhibition
THE DOMINICAN Exporters Association together with the Dominican Exports Promotion Centre and the Dominican Republic Office for the Promotion of Investment will be hosting "The Dominican Republic Second International Exhibition for Trade and Investment".
This exhibition will be co-ordinated with the participation of trade missions from the United States, South America and Central America, Europe and Asia, as well as business people from the Caribbean.
According to the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Jamaica, there is a real prospect of a planned trade mission from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic to participate in the exhibition which is scheduled for August 2-5, 2000. The local mission is being co-ordinated by the Embassy in Kingston.
The primary objective of the exhibition is to offer exporters, national and international businesses and industry, opportunity to exchange ideas, goods and services as well as to establish permanent relations for the future.
Alongside the exhibition, the First Information Technology Congress of the Dominican Republic (DR-FITECH) will be celebrated on August 1-3, organised by DR-OPIN, where leaders and businessmen in the IT industry will discuss their vision of the future and the latest trends, as well as the challenges and business opportunities that are being met by these companies.
The exhibition will feature a specialised Technology Pavilion, where companies will show their products and their most recent technologies. The participants will also learn about the initiative of the Dominican Government to develop a new series of technology parks, particularly the Cyber Park of Santo Domingo, to be inaugurated in early August.
DR-FITECH will be celebrated at the inauguration of the Technology Institute of The Americas, a special project within the Cyber Park of Santo Domingo.
