Wadadah, Tivoli fail to impress

WESTERN BUREAU:

WADADAH and Tivoli Gardens played to a scrappy 1-1 draw at Jarrett Park yesterday as they stayed tied on points in the National Premier League.

Winston Anglin gave Wadadah the lead from the penalty spot after 10 minutes while Dwayne Richards scored for Tivoli Gardens in the 47th minute. Both teams missed numerous scoring opportunities as they stayed level on five points from four matches.

Wadadah started their fourth different line-up in as many games, bringing in the veteran defender Durrent Brown to shore up a suspect back line while leaving out Dillon Oates and shifting central defender Loren Sailsman to left back and switching Oniel Thomas to right back. Goalkeeper Jahwayne Boyd, who was replaced last week by Keith Wilson, returned between the sticks. Coach Anthony 'Follies' Williams was forced to make an early change when he brought on Oniel Robinson after only 15 minutes to replace Thomas in the defence.

Wadadah jumped into an early lead after Rohan Afflick brought down Thomas Grant inside the penalty area. Anglin's kick was initially parried by goalkeeper Edsel Scott but the ball trickled over the line and into the goal.

The visitors gradually took over the game and should have scored on a number of occasions as they had a free runs down both flanks, managing to get the ball into the area but failed to finish properly.

The equaliser eventually came two minutes into the second half when Boyd made a hash of a long range shot from Richards that seemed more of a cross. The goalkeeper managed to get his hands to the ball but failed to hold on and allowed the ball to fall into the goal.
