Gift-wrapped ammunition found

THE CONSTANT Spring police stumbled on a gift-wrapped carton box with 438 rounds of assorted ammunition during an operation in the upscale residential community of Allerdyce, St. Andrew, yesterday.

No one was arrested in connection with the find, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) said.

The CCN's metro officer reported that about 9 a.m., the police carried out an operation in the Grants Pen, Allerdyce and Barbican communities. During the operation, the police said, the gift-wrapped carton box with a tag marked "7th prize" was seen at the intersection of Allerdyce Road and Allerdyce Avenue. Police searched the box and found it to contain 308 rounds of 12-gauge cartridges and 122 rounds of .22 cartridges.

The Constant Spring police are investigating.
