JAMAICA'S Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship (CAJGC) representatives head off to the Caymanas Golf and Country Club course this weekend for training under the watchful gaze of coach Chris Harries.
Leading the junior contingent for July 9-13 event at that course is 15-year-old Martina MooYoung who led the women's section at last week's National Trials for two rounds and finished a creditable third behind national champion Maggie Lyn and former Caribbean champ Jodi Munn.
MooYoung will represent the island in the Under-16 section with Lindsay Chang, according to a proposed team listed by the Jamaica Golf Association.
Ava Lee, who also shone at the Trials and finished third in the Smirnoff 36 tournament last weekend, heads the Under-19s and will be joined by Stacey Huslin from SuperClubs.
Tiffany Terrier and Shannon Dixion will fly the flag in the Under-13s.
On the boys side, National Trialists Xavier Rose and Damien Spencer will represent the island in the Under 19s. Dustin Chong and Christopher Bailey will tee off in the Under-16s and Phillip Beck and Craig Hendrickson have earned Under-13 honours.
Beck, MooYoung and Terrier were automatic qualifiers for the team after the recent Junior Trials.
Eight other young Jamaicans will enter the regional tournament as individuals: Adrian Bradford (U-13), Amanda MooYoung (U-13), Devon Raymond (U-16), Gillian Levy (U-16), Everald Bailey (U-19), Gerard Fontaine (U-19), Jason Hall (U-19), Lasandra Brown (U-19).
