More vendors needed for stamps

THE EDITOR, Madam:

THIS IS an open letter to Minister Paulwell:

Sir, I believe it would be a good idea and of great benefit to us citizens, for stamps to be sold at various outlets other than the post offices. I work in the New Kingston area and I find it very difficult (and I believe many others do) to go whether by private vehicle or public transportation to Cross Roads or Half-Way Tree to purchase one stamp to put on an envelop to post.

Why not have an outlet in the New Kingston area, for example, to sell stamps and perhaps to collect letters on behalf of the people in the area. It would save us time, and money, especially with the traffic congestion we have to encounter each day. I know many people have access to the Internet to send e-mail, but not everyone has that access and sometimes we do need to send a bank draft, cheque, etc., through the ordinary mail.

I hope this matter would be given serious consideration with a view to improving the postal service in our country.

Thank you for your attention.

I am etc.,

ATHLENE W. GABAY
