Moses I aims high

Moses I

Andrew Clunis, Freelance Writer

CAPLETON IS demonstrating tremendous energy on wax these days, but there are a few other people who can share credit for his success. One such is a singer named Moses I, who provides the vocals on the hitbound single Crazy Looks.

Moses I is no newcomer to the entertainment scene. His forte was the area of fashion designing, sewing for the artistes who hailed from the Tavern Comm-unity in St. Andrew, where he grew up. Among them were Major Mackerel, Roundhead and even Capleton himself. While a designer, he became fascinated with the music and decided to try his hand at it.

He began singing under the name Singing Apache. Success was limited and he decided to perform by his real name, Anthony Singh. Still, with success hard in coming, he got converted to the Rastafarian faith and took on the name Moses I. His collaboration with Capleton led to the song which he promises has many more to follow in its footsteps.

Moses I has had the experience of working with the best in reggae music, having recorded on Morgan Heritage's compilation albums Morgan Heritage and Friends Vols. I & II. He did several song's for Iley Dread's Kings of Kings label and he has also worked with Stephen Marley on the Ghetto Youths United label, and says he has hopes that Marley will sign him into a management contract. "This song has been doing a lot for me. It has given me the attention my career needs and hopefully things will just follow through and the other efforts will be just as successful. I have to thank all the people who have believed in me," he said.

Moses I has recorded another single with Capleton and has been making occasional appearances with the firebrand DJ on the local stage. He is presently grooming his eight-year-old son for the entertainment world. Orlando Singh also called Jah Lando is a young Rastafarian. He is a talented DJ who is not afraid to chant his lyrics in any crowd, under any circumstances. He has developed a lion-roaring sound which delights fans at stage shows and the youngster says he will become a professional entertainer.
